Mountain Bike Tours of the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas

-Custom Guided Tours-

FallingTrails offers guided off-road mountain biking in the headwaters areas of the Arkansas Ozark Mountains.  We specialize in multi-day excursions in the watersheds of the Buffalo, Mulberry, and Piney rivers. The outstanding forests of this rugged area of the Ozarks host dozens of miles of twisting, turning, rising and falling singletrack and doubletrack trails.

Our rides vary from expert singletrack trails that demand body strength, technical riding skills, and good conditioning to moderately easy rolling forest roads and doubletrack.  Ozark riding is not generally easy riding. The most demanding rides climb and descend from creek to ridgetop (700-1000 feet) 2-3 times per day. Easier rides avoid large climbs and steep descents and generally cover less distance. All custom tours are based upon user ability and experience. We use our local knowledge and expertise to plan your custom tour just the way you want.

Expert mountain bikers who know the area well will guide your custom tour.  Our guides know and anticipate the trails ahead and always provide assistance as needed. You will never be far from your guide on any of our custom rides. His/her priority will be to make sure that you are doing well on your ride. Our guides can provide instruction and training on technical riding and overall mountain biking skills. Just ask.

A popular option includes a moderate 2-hour bike ride followed by a moderate 3-hour hike in the Upper Buffalo Wilderness. Expect beautiful creeks and bluffs, old hardwood forests, giant waterfalls and possibly a visit to a native bluff dwellers homesite. The excursion includes lunch and (if desired) a return shuttle for $50/person in groups of 3 or more.

The Boston Mountains (including much of the Buffalo, Piney, and Mulberry river watersheds) is an outstanding scenic area noted for its vistas, bluffs, steep canyons, big forests and beautiful waters. Our tours explore these natural wonders. We can provide additional guided hiking/packing, cave and whitewater canoeing (seasonal) custom guided excursions.

Meals and accommodations on Ozark tours can be custom designed to meet your requirements. We offer both vegetarian and traditional meal options. We even provide meal choices for some special diets.  FallingTrails works with a network of local community residents to provide lodging options ranging from forest or bluff campsites to rustic cabins to bed and breakfast.  We can arrange your rides from cabin to cabin to let you enjoy the riding while we take care of the logistics.

Our foods are prepared with the highest quality natural and organic ingredients. Our cooks are well experienced at preparing delicious wholesome foods for hungry athletes.  We provide at least two home-cooked hot meals every day.

We protect the natural environment in which we recreate by actively participating in local conservation efforts to halt destructive roading, logging and habitat conversion in the Ozark National Forest. We are also working to create better forest management plans that promote watershed and habitat protection along with low impact trails systems. We support non-motorized recreational trail use via our membership in the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA).

Guided tour costs are based upon the number of participants, logistics and accommodations required.  A basic day of guided mountain biking including rustic lodging and three meals is about $100 for a single person.  We offer a graduated discount per person for groups and multi-day excursions. Additional fees (depending upon logistics) may be charged for shuttles and other special support requests. Transportation to/from area airports is provided at group rates.
